Day 51

"Be the change that you want to see in the world"
Mohandas Ghandi

Remember that old line - "Save Water: Shower with a Friend"?

It's not so funny in Australia these days, more like a recommendation. We have seriously low water storage in some parts and the water restrictions where I live are very mild compared to some.

That's where the purple hose comes in: it indicates grey water in use. Grey water - ten years ago, only you most alternative greenies used terms like that. Nowadays, we all do.

This hose connects to a drip system in my garden at one end and a special tank at the other, which catches the water from our washing machine and pumps it out through this hose to my most precious garden bed. It is the only way I water these days, apart from the buckets from the shower, which also get emptied onto the soil.

Buckets in the shower? Yep, turns out the humble bucket is our greatest friend and most of us shower with them these days!
